Big Wave Bay is about 1hrs walk from Shek-O. You`ll also arrive at Big Wave Bay if you walk the 50Km Hong Kong Island Trail, starting at Victoria Peak. Although its best to do this walk in stages. We caught the bus here after hiking on Violet Hill & The Twins.
This is a nice clean beach, with a refreshment kiosk and a barbecue area. This is the place to go if you like surfing, because as the name implies, the waves are big.
To reach Big Wave Bay, catch the MTR to Shau Kei Wan and get on the no9 bus from the bus terminus. Exit the bus when it reaches a fork in the road to shek-O. Or ride all the way to Shek-O, then walk to the beach. The walk takes around 30mins.
